Grading coins can be difficult if you are new to collecting coins, but you can learn how. For example, a Mint State coin has all original details and has never been touched by anyone and has some scratch marks or even dents. Almost Uncirculated coins have very light wear, but IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, the year are still pretty clear. Extra Fine coins have a lot of wear, but everything is still readable. Very Fine coins have little detail, but can still have year and IN GOD WE TRUST. Fine coins are not very readable, with only the year being visible, and IN GOD WE TRUST partially there. Very Good coins have a lot of wear, with only partial visibility of IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY. Good coins are very worn down, so much that you can hardly even read the date! IN GOD WE TRUST and LIBERTY are not visible anymore, but you can see partial details of stars. Poor coins have the most wear, and sometimes even no date. Most details on Poor coins are worn into the rim of the coin, but they can still be worth something.
